We realize that you, as a patient, can choose from a variety of healthcare providers to help you with your neck and/or back pain. Hence, we thought it might be helpful to give you ten reasons to choose us

  1. We are the only privately owned physical therapy clinic in the Denver Metro area specializing in non-surgical care of neck and back pain.
  2. We accept most health insurances, including Medicare and also have a very affordable self pay option.
  3. We will verify your insurance for you, no unpleasant surprises.
  4. You will always work with a highly educated, specialized, Licensed Physical Therapist and not be handed of to an assistant or aide.
  5. Your Physical Therapy session will always be 45 minutes or more if needed.
  6. Colorado is a Direct Access State; meaning, you don't need a referral from your physician to see us (Unless your insurance is: Medicare, Workmen's Compensation or Motor Vehicle Accidents) Of course, we will always send our reports to your (family) physician.
  7. In addition to physical therapy, we offer classes ranging from a Back Education Class to meditation classes to provide you with additional tools in helping your back or neck heal.
  8. Since we are a specialty clinic we have built an extensive network of physicians and other healthcare providers who share the same philosophy; an emphasis on evidence based health care and not health business.
  9. We are conveniently located at the corner of I-25 and Colorado Boulevard.
  10. Choose us and you will support a local business instead of a large corporation where your Physical Therapist (or an assistant/aide!) will spend 20 minutes with you. Your costs are the same, if not less, if you choose us!

Choose us and Experience the Difference!

06-19-2013 Physical Therapy for Effective Low-Back Pain Management

A new review article published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons should help convince many patients with low back pain to consider physical therapy as a first line of treatment for their condition, according to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). The review, published in February 2009, recommends that in most cases of symptomatic lumbar degenerative disc disease, a common cause of low back pain (LBP), the most effective treatment is physical therapy combined with anti-inflammatory medications. Approximately 75 to 85 percent of adults will be affected by low back pain during their lifetimes.

12-19-12 Unfortunately we will be out-of-network with Great West Health "Care" per immediate. CIGNA bought Great West Health "Care" and immediately lowered their reimbursement to a level which does not allow for evidence based care in Physical Therapy services provided. This, of course, is not in line with what our patients and physicians expect from us and so, regrettably, we have taken this decision.
11-19-12 Jeremy Wehking, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT has always expressed an interest in evaluating and treating the Temporomandibular Joint, also known as the TMJ joint. Perhaps that's why he married a dentist!? 🙂 He recently finished his course work / training for this specialization and is open to start seeing patients with TMJ problems. Just call our clinic to set up an appointment!
11-01-12 DID YOU KNOW?
Colorado is an open access state so you can be evaluated and treated by a Physical Therapist without a physician's referral. However, some insurance policies require a doctor's referral and we will advise you as to whether this is required by your plan. And, of course, we will always send a report to your physician!
10-18-12 10% Day!
Colorado Spine Therapy will donate 10% of all co-pays, paid deductibles etc. to the Physical Therapy Department of Children's Hospital.

When?
Thursday October 18 (every 3rd Thursday of the month)

Join us to help every child to receive the best possible Physical Therapy treatment at Children's Hospital!

10-11-12 Stefan van Duursen was selected as the recipient of the Colorado Physical Therapy Chapter's 20th Annual Bob Doctor Service Award. This award recognizes physical therapy professionals who have shown exceptional service to the Chapter and in so doing have brought recognition and credit to the entire physical therapy profession.
10-10-12 Just a reminder! The Manual Therapy Tune-Up is in! A 45 minute hands-on, head-to-toe session addressing all those tight joints and muscles preventing injury from happening and maintaining a healthy back and neck! Just call us at 303-691-3733 to make an appointment.

09-17-12 Colorado Spine Therapy is an "evidence-based physical therapy clinic." We practice based on the latest research available without losing sight of the importance of providing "care" to our patients. In line with these goals we have made our annual donation to Regis University's Faculty Research Fund to facilitate non-surgical spine research, the type of care we provide!
11-07-11 Colorado Spine Therapy, LLC is pleased to announce that Jeremy Wehking has joined our team.
Jeremy graduated from the University of Florida in 2004.
With 7 years of Physical Therapy experience, a Manual Therapy Certification, Fellowship status in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists and a Board Certification in Orthopedics, we feel Jeremy is definitely a valuable asset to our team!
(NOTE: Colorado has 6000+ physical therapists, only 30 have obtained Fellowship status, 2 of these Fellows now hold positions at Colorado Spine Therapy!).
Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife and his two furry canine children.
He also enjoys running, hiking, and attempts at snowboarding.
07-11-11 That was AMAZING!
I just got back from doing an in-service for a group of 36 young gymnasts on "Healthy Backs for Young Gymnasts".
These girls ranged in age from 10 to 16, and when I asked how many of them had back pain, and 30 raised their hands.
That's 83%!
After an hour and a half of education and interactive activities on how to manage their own backs with posture and exercises, 36 out of 36 girls found the in-service to be beneficial.
I personally witnessed at least 25 girls make gains during the session as seen by decreased pain and improved function, and the coaches feel more empowered to move forward with the tools they were given today.

What happened for those girls today will go a long way to teach self-management skills and prevention of back pain.
It makes me wonder how many more young people we can help in the future by teaching them skills to take care of their backs and prevent back pain from happening to them -
Considering that 83% of these gymnasts today had back pain, and 80% of the general population will have back pain at some point in their lives, it is quite astonishing to think about the difference we can make if we target young people and educate them about how to manage and prevent back pain.
Let's not even mention the difference it could make for our astonishing health care costs due to back pain.
Wait, I can't resist: Estimates of annual US costs of low back pain have been stated as high as over $90 billion dollars.
Just imagine what some education and prevention for young adults can do for the future of back wellness and fiscal impact to our society -
I get excited thinking about the possibilities!
